The Rush Riders 4-H horse and pony group met at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Root Building. Vice-President Danielle Stone called the meeting to order. The pledge to the American Flag and the 4-H Flag were said. Roll call was to say your name and what your favorite Halloween candy was. The treasurers report was read.
Enrollment forms were available to pick up and fill out or take with you. The enrollment fees for 4-H are $20 per member. Checks are to be made out to Purdue CES Rush County. Credit card payments are available online. On time deadline is Jan. 15, 2013, with drop or add project deadline being April 1.
If you have been keeping a riding log, you should get your log sheet turned in to Mel by the first week of November. Riding log pins for hours on horseback will be awarded at the awards dinner in November.
The Awards Dinner for celebrating the end of the 2012 show season and the beginning of the new 4-H year will be held on Saturday Nov. 17. We will be in the Root Building and plan to eat at 6 p.m. This is to be a pitch-in meal. Each family attending should bring a crock pot or pot of soup or stew or a large casserole to share. Drinks, bread, desserts and table services will be provided. This Awards Dinner will include the Rush Riders and the Half-Pint Clubs. It’s a time of recognition and celebration of these club members. Please try to attend, as the Awards Dinner will be the last time we get together before the holidays and the spring meeting in March. This might be a good time to invite families with an interest in joining the 4-H Horse and Pony Program in Rush County. It would give them a good opportunity to meet members and their families and to hear what the program includes.
Mark your 2013 calendar for April 13 for the Pork Chop Supper Fundraiser. We need to do a better job of advertising and selling tickets this time around. This is our clubs most important fundraiser and we really need to make it count!
Members will vote for president, vice president and treasurer for 2013 and send ballots back by return mail envelopes. Officers will then be announced at the Awards Dinner.
