Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information solutions for small community and critical access hospitals, has announced that Indiana-based Rush Memorial Hospital has completed implementation of Healthland’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) solution. The 25-bed critical access hospital in Rushville is live with Healthland’s financial, order entry and clinical documentation software solutions. The healthcare facility expects the new technology will enable them to better serve the community through improved patient care, centralized patient records that can be accessed across multiple healthcare settings and increased options for preventative healthcare, while cutting costs and improving efficiencies.
“The primary goal with our EMR project was to utilize technology to better serve our community,” Jim Boyer, Rush Memorial Hospital‘s chief information officer said. “EMR is an excellent tool to provide physicians with the most up-to-date information on their patients, allowing them to better track patient care including preventative health services. Our medical records are now centralized and can be accessed in a hospital, clinic or long-term care facility. The Healthland solution has also helped us provide a quick turn-round of lab results, increase accuracy on electronic records and prevent errors – which improves patient care, while providing convenience that saves time and decreases costs.”
Rush Memorial is a high-volume facility with a critical need for centralized information. Healthland’s solution enables healthcare providers to quickly and easily access a comprehensive view of demographic, historical and clinical patient information from all care settings within the healthcare system-hospital, clinic, home health and long-term care.
The Healthland EMR system’s instant access to patient data also improves patient care by eliminating illegible hand-written notes, which can reduce the risk of medical errors. In addition, Healthland’s EMR tools offer safety features including special alerts to patient allergies and increased checkpoints prior to the administration of all medication. The system’s single patient chart is accessible in real time, creating operational efficiencies, improved departmental and organizational communication, and reduced cost by more effectively managing patient records and optimizing reimbursement while ensuring regulatory compliance.
“We looked at several EMR vendors during our selection process, but found Healthland to be superior in terms of its clinical and financial solutions, price and customer service,” Boyer added. “We are already experiencing improvements with Healthland’s fully centralized EMR solution in our hospital such as improved processes and work flow; improved reporting and accuracies; lower AR; and benefits from the scan repository and report archival system.”
“This was a big undertaking by our staff,” Brad Smith, CEO of Rush Memorial Hospital said. “Their dedication and commitment to the process is what made this implementation so successful.”
“Working with Rush Memorial on its EMR implementation has been a very positive experience,” Angie Franks, Healthland Senior Vice President of Sales and Market Development said. “The hospital is definitely a more advanced user of technology and the staff is really taking advantage of all the tools the solution has to offer. The executive leadership and support has been crucial to the implementation process; we are thrilled to work with such innovative professionals dedicated to improving healthcare in their community.”
