Teenage delegates needed

Indiana Cooperative Youth Academy

RUSHVILLE — RushShelby Energy is seeking young people ages 14 to 16 to attend the Indiana Cooperative Youth Academy in July. Applications are available by calling Trudy Jones in the RSE office at 765-544-2600. The deadline is July 9. Students are not required to live on RushShelby Energy lines, but must live within the boundaries of the nine county service area.

The Academy will take place at the Indiana FFA Training Center in Trafalgar, beginning July 26 and concluding July 29. Adult chaperones from cooperative businesses will be on hand to teach those in attendance about how cooperatives operate, how they benefit their members and communities, and the career opportunities available.

Indiana is home to hundreds of cooperative businesses such as credit unions, ag supply, grain, dairy, housing, electric, laundry organizations. The cooperative business model is in place around the world providing economic impact and community service. 2012 has been designated as the International Year of the Cooperative.

Participants will experience an exciting learning agenda filled with guest presenters, case studies and practical lectures. Group and individual activities will be included. The agenda also has time for physical and social activities.

Transportation to and from the FFA Center are the responsibility of the applicant, but RushShelby Energy will be paying the cost of the registration, room and board for this event.
