Armstrong named to Citizens board

RUSHVILLE —

Dr. Richard A. Armstrong recently joined the board of directors of Citizens State Bank of New Castle. His election to the board came during the bank’s annual reorganizational meeting held in April. Announcement of Armstrong’s appointment was made by Gary J. Maddox, chairman of the board. “We are pleased to welcome Richard to our board of directors,” said Maddox. “His life experiences, special insights and keen intellect will certainly prove valuable as Citizens State Bank prepares to meet the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.” Armstrong added, “I consider it an honor to serve on the board. It is a chance for me personally to broaden my horizons and open a new chapter in my life. I look forward to this wonderful opportunity.” Dr. Armstrong opened his dental practice in Knightstown in December of 1979 shortly after completing four years of service as a member of the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He grew up on the east side of Indianapolis and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1968. Armstrong completed his undergraduate degree on the Bloomington campus of I.U. in 1971, and then attended the I.U. School of Dentistry, Indianapolis, where he graduated in 1975. Armstrong married Sally Heiob in 1971 and they raised their three children in Knightstown. He has been an active member in his community in a number of different leadership capacities. He was a member of the school board of trustees in Knightstown from 1984 to 1998, including five years as president. He is presently in his sixth year as a board member for the Henry County Community Foundation and has served on the Henry County Board of Health since 2001. Armstrong retired this past March from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of colonel following 31 years of service.
