CPAs across Indiana volunteer for 2012 CPA Day of Service

RUSHVILLE — Local volunteers from Rushville, including Brooke Cooper, Krissi Williams and Kim Rathz, joined more than 450 CPAs, staff and accounting students on Sept. 21. The Indiana CPA Society’s 10th annual CPA Day of Service was Sept. 21. It’s a single day of volunteer service that reflects the CPA profession’s ongoing commitment to serving the communities where its professionals live and work through old-fashioned volunteerism.

During the CPA Day of Service, most INCPAS volunteers worked from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The volunteer locations encompass a variety of organizations and include both indoor and outdoor projects. The volunteers work for CPA firms, businesses that employ CPAs, or universities. This year, 18 of the firms, businesses or schools sent more than 10 participants each to volunteer. Volunteers participated in community service and charitable work at 34 volunteer locations in 20 cities across the state of Indiana.

Locally, staff from Jane Smiley CPA, Inc., gave of their time at the Rushville Animal Shelter.

Currently, more than 8,000 CPAs in public practice, industry, government and education are members of the Indiana CPA Society. INCPAS serves the public interest as well as its members. Its members are required to abide by the CPA profession’s code of conduct. INCPAS members also receive access to quality educational programs provided by the Society, resources that enable them to better perform their job functions, and peer networking for information sharing that broadens their skills and knowledge base.
