Farm Credit donates funds to Manilla Volunteer Fire Department

RUSHVILLE — Agriculture lender Farm Credit of Mid-America in Rush County recently donated $1,500 to The Manilla Volunteer Fire Department to purchase a new grain rescue tube.

“The funds will be used to assist emergency first responders in extracting victims trapped In flowing grain and enhance the likelihood of survival,” said Jon Waits, financial services officer with Farm Credit in Rushville.

“This donation gives us a great opportunity to share with our friends and neighbors the importance of agriculture in our community,” Waits said.

The donation represents Farm Credit’s commitment to allocate funds to programs that build leadership and encourage teamwork in rural America’s rural communities. Farm Credit, headquartered in Louisville, Ky., gives back to local communities through its Farm Credit Support for Agriculture Stewardship Program with the endorsement of the cooperative board’s 18 members. The program targets funds to agricultural projects and educational initiatives, giving priority to youth and young farmers organizations.

Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee.
