Critic’s Corner: H.I.M. release worth a listen
After forming in Finland in 1995, H.I.M (or His Infernal Majesty) broke through the music scene after teaming up with skateboarder Bam Margera on his hit MTV show. The band has a soft Goth sound similar to the ‘80s group Sisters of Mercy. H.I.M is one of my favorite bands. I love their moody music and enjoy how they can be heavy on one song and totally different on the next one. The band’s new record "Screamworks" is more rocking than past albums and I love that. The song "Heartkiller" is a must listen! For a limited time you can buy "Screamworks" and get a bonus disc of all their music done acoustic. This album is a must have for anyone into the rock alternative scene.
4 out of 4 stars
One of the best bar bands around visited Indianapolis last week. Lucero put on another amazing concert at the Vogue to promote their new record "1372 Overton Park." Lucero, which means bright star in Spanish, is really making a name for themselves with their eighth studio album and numerous years of constant touring. This southern-fried band loves to tour more than being in the studio and it shows on stage. The band reminds me of a better Wilco. Lead singer Ben Nichols’ sandpaper-ish voice will give you chills and as you watch the band on stage. With "1372 Overton Park" Lucero has given themselves the album they need to generate a bigger fan base.
