Candlebox at The Vogue Feb. 5

RUSHVILLE — Modern rock band Candlebox will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Vogue Theater in Broad Ripple with The Last Good Year.

Tickets are $20 and are on sale now at the Vogue Box Office, all Ticketfly outlets, online at ticketfly.com, charge-by-phone at 877-4-FLY-TIX (435-9849).

The Vogue is located at 6259 N. College Avenue (in the Broad Ripple Village) in Indianapolis. Show is 21+. This is a non-smoking show.

About Candlebox: Love Stories & Other Musings, the fifth studio album from Candlebox (released April 3 on AudioNest/Fontana/Universal), evidences a newfound level of maturity for the band, formed in 1991 in Seattle. At the same time, listening to it with the volume knob cranked up emphatically reveals that front man Kevin Martin, lead guitarist Peter Klett, drummer Scott Mercado and their band mates, remain filled with the youthful exuberance that marked their first go-round in the 1990s, a decade during which they ran off a string of alt-rock classics while selling north of 5 million albums.

No modern-rock band combines aggression, melodicism and towering hooks more authoritatively than the current Candlebox lineup. They’re in peak form throughout Love Stories & Other Musings, from the unbridled dirty blues (as Klett refers to it) “Lifelike Song” to the cascading “Baby Love” and the anthem “Believe in It,” the first single.

About The Last Good Year: Being crowned the winners of the 2007 “Indy Music Scene Battle of the Bands” and taking home $10K, after only a short time of playing together as TLGY, was one of the many accomplishments that lead to the release of The Last Good Year’s self-titled debut album. Spending most of 2007 developing their fan base, The Last Good Year quickly became an Indianapolis favorite. Along with their win in the Battle of the Bands, they were voted into the “Best of 2007” as a part of the leading local art publication, Nuvo (www.nuvo.net).
