Movie preview: “Mama”

Rated: PG-13 for violence and terror, some disturbing images and thematic elements

Running time: 1 hr 40 min

Cast: Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, Daniel Kash, Javier Botet

Plot: This supernatural thriller tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their mother was murdered. When the kids are found alive years later and begin a new life, a loving adoptive couple find that someone or something still wants to come tuck their nieces in at night. Are the two young girls merely dealing with the emotional aftershocks of a life-altering tragedy, or have attracted a force that could destroy their family all over again?

  • St. Joe Festival underway in Shelbyville

    The carnival rides, games and food booths are back for another year at the St. Joseph Parish Spring Festival on the corner of Broadway and Noble Streets in Shelbyville. The festival kicked off Thursday and runs through Saturday night. The annual fried chicken dinner will continue Sunday following the festival at the Knights of Columbus.
