Metamora Corn Maze is fun activity for everyone

What could be more fun than getting lost in a 10-acre corn maze shaped like a giant chicken? Tri-state residents will get the chance to find out at the fourth annual Metamora Corn Maze, open from 1 to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October.

Admission is $5 and all proceeds go to benefit the Whitewater Canal Trail.

For the past three years, thousands of fun-seekers from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky have had a blast while getting lost in the Metamora Corn Maze, and this year promises to be no exception.

The Metamora Corn Maze is a super fun activity for everyone, and can accommodate individuals, families and even large groups. Maze enthusiasts can park off of Highway 52 by the maze entrance, or add more fun to the day by taking the train from Metamora right to the maze entrance. The corn maze is located one mile east of Metamora, or five miles west of Brookville, depending upon which direction you come from.

This year’s maze is in the shape of a giant chicken in honor of southeastern Indiana’s culinary specialty, fried chicken. There even will be chicken frying demonstrations as this year’s maze, and live chickens for the kids to visit with as well as other fun attractions.

The maze was designed in conjunction with The Chicken Trail, a highly popular program that shows people where to find all of the great fried chicken restaurants in the area.

Designs in previous years have been based on the Whitewater Canal Trail logo; 1808 map of Franklin County; and the 2008 Brookville bicentennial logo, which depicted the historic Brookville courthouse.

Each year’s maze seems to grow even more fun and fantastical! The corn for the maze is planted in both directions to ensure there is no visibility between rows, thus making your corn maze experience even more exciting.
