TUESDAY (3/9)

n Milroy Research Literary Club will meet at 7 p.m. today at the home of Nancy Leising. Helen Holder will present the program.



WEDNESDAY (3/10)

n The Rushville Chapter of DAR will meet Wednesday at Mrs. Jeff Morgan's, 3244 W 1050 S, Milroy. The program will be given by Nancy Badger.

n Hint Hunters Homemakers Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Miller’s Merry Manor, 612 E. 11th Street, Rushville with Shirley Converse as hostess and Mary Hartzler as cohostess. Program “Living with Less and Loving It” will be presented by Alma Bailey. You are requested to wear green. Also please bring a finger food.



THURSDAY (3/11)

n The Rush County Democrat party will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Rushville City Hall. The group meets the second Thursday of each month except December.

n Roots Blower retirees – All Local 1118 UAW that are drawing a pension from union are eligible and welcome. The retiree pitch-in dinner is at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Eastside Methodist Church, Connersville. Bring a well-filled covered dish. Drinks, plates, etc. provided. Come alone or bring a spouse or friend. Widows welcome. Casual event.

n The Gingham Pals Home Ec Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of Diana Leising. Roll call will be "The Oldest Thing in Your Closet. The lesson "Trapped In The Closet" will be given by Susan Halcomb. The item for the pantry is any paper goods.



SATURDAY (3/13)

n Mays Elementary hog roast and auction will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the school gym. Auction starts at 6:30 p.m. Carry-outs available. Tickets $6. Tickets may be purchased now from Mays Elementary students or at the door.

n Richland Farmers & Farmerettes 4-H Club will have a hog roast from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the New Salem Lions Club. Carry-outs available. Adults $6, children 12 and under $4.

n There will be a benefit dinner for Crystal Gerding and family from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Morristown Christian Church Annex Building. Menu includes pulled pork, bakes beans, chips, drink and dessert. $10 adults; $5 children 5 to 10; under 5 free.

n Manilla Lions Club is hosting a pancake, sausage, biscuit and gravy breakfast from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at its community building on State Road 44. Adults $5; children 12 and under $2.50.

n From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday China Buffet will donate 20 percent of sales to the Rush County Relay For Life. Great food; great service. Please help support Rush County Relay For Life. Thank you, Team Rose Petals.

n St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at 3 p.m. Satuday. Starts at Main Street Christian Church and goes to Third Street. Public invited to participate; be in the church parking lot by 2:30 p.m.



SUNDAY (3/14)

n There will be a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Little Flatrock Christian Church. Menu will include spaghetti, texas toast, slaw, applesauce, homemade dessert and drink. Free-will donation will be accepted. The dinner originally was scheduled for February but was postponed due to the weather. It is sponsored by the youth group and will help fund their many outreach programs. Everyone is welcome to attend.

n Gettinger Family Scholarship day will be Sunday at Stagg's Dairy Treats and Restaurant. A portion of the sales from that day will be donated to the Danny E. and Barbara J. Gettinger and Family Scholarship Fund at the Rush County Community Foundation. Donations also accepted.



MONDAY (3/15)

n Monday is the deadline to register for the 2010 Sewing Seminar & Quilt Show. These special activities will be held April 10 in the gymnasiums of Rushville Elementary School. The featured presenter for the sewing seminar will be Deb Strain, fabric designer for Moda Fabric. Registration forms are available by calling Purdue Extension-Rush County at 765-932-5974 or can be downloaded from www.extension.purdue.edu/rush.Open to the public, these events are sponsored by the Rush County Extension Homemakers & the Heart in Hand Extension Homemaker Quilt Guild.

n There will be a special meeting of the Rush County Solid Waste Management Board of Directors at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Commissioners Room (102) of the courthouse.



TUESDAY (3/16)

n RCHS Choir spring concert will be at 7:30 p.m. March 16 at the Laughlin Center on the RCHS campus, Rushville. All five choirs from the high school will perform. Come support the performing arts in our community and enjoy some truly powerful music.

n The Memory Crafters club will meet at 6:30 p.m. March 16 at Main Street Christian Church. Our lesson will be on "Using Ribbon in Your Scrapbook and Card Projects." Everyone is invited. No membership fees.



THURSDAY (3/18)

n RMH Sheehan Cancer Center Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. March 18 at the center, 110 E. 13th Street, Rushville. Open to anyone. For information call 765-932-7534.



FRIDAY (3/19)

n St. Patrick’s Dance for all seventh and eighth grade students will be from 6 to 8 p.m. March 19 in the BRMS cafeteria. Sponsored by the Rushville Parks & Recreation Department. Music by DJ Kevin Green. School dress code please. No admission charge. Free refreshments.



SATURDAY (3/20)

n Big Flatrock Christian Church invites everyone to its annual chili supper from 4 to 7 p.m. March 20. A free-will offering will be accepted and donated to Jacob Ping to help with his fight against cancer. Carry-outs available. Bake sale held by Dorcas Circle during meal. n The Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. March 24 at the home of Kathy Wright. Kellie Kuhn is the co-hostess. Thelma Myer will give devotions and Teresa Farthing will present a lesson on "Living with Less and Loving It." Roll call: Give a cost-cutting idea.

FRIDAY (4/2)

n Deadline for sign-up for Rush County T-ball is April 2. Applications are being accepted at the Boys & Girls Club of Rush County. Ages four through seven. For information call Ruby at 765-932-2378.



THURSDAY (4/8)

SATURDAY 4/10

n 12th annual pork chop supper hosted by the 4-H Horse & Pony Club will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. April 10 at the RushShelby Energy Community Building, Rush County Fairgrounds, Rushville. Carry-out and extra pork chops available. Cost $7, includes grilled smoked pork chop, cheese potatoes, green beans, applesauce or slaw, homemade roll, dessert and drink. Kid’s $4 hot dog meal also available. Tickets sold at door. Proceeds benefit Rush County 4-H Horse & Pony Club.



MISCELLANEOUS

n Rush County 4-H enrollment for the 2010 fair season is underway. Youth in grades three through 12 who are interested in enrolling in 4-H may contact the Rush County Extension Office, located on the first floor of the courthouse, for an enrollment form or enroll on-line at www.ces.purdue.edu/Rush. To receive an enrollment form via mail, call 932-5974 or e-mail kamos@purdue.edu. On-time enrollment ended Jan. 15. 

n The Census is doing employment testing for 2010 Census jobs on Wednesdays at the Rushville Public Library. Call 1-866-861-2010 to make an appointment. If you have questions call Complete Count Chairman Carla Sharpe at City Hall, 932-3735.

n Support the troops through the holidays: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 150 would like to have the names of those family members who are serving our country that are in our community. We are wanting to be a support group for the family members that are home waiting for their soldier to return, and be able to send care packages to them. Contact the post at 765-561-8896 and allow us to have the information requested. Special thanks to those families that are serving with their loved ones for our freedom.

n AA and Al-Anon meet at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

n Al-Anon meets at 6 p.m. every Monday at 333 N. Main Street in Rushville. For information call 765-593-0141.

n Here’s Hope, a Christ-centered, Bible-based support group for anyone that is alcohol or drug dependent meets at 6:30 p.m. every first and third Monday. Call (765) 698-2855 and ask for Rob.

n A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone is welcome.

n The DAV veterans van is now in Rush County. If you have an appointment at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis call (765) 932-3075, seven to 10 days in advance. Veterans who need a ride sooner call (765) 561-5445 or (765) 932-2703.

n The Community Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 109 East Third Street. Please bring your photo ID. Donations are welcome.

n The Rush County Victim's Assistance, Inc. has its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For location please contact the office at 938-1555. The public always is invited to attend. For more information contact Barbara Kuhn at 938-1555.

n The Board of Health for Rush County will hold its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday except for December, when there is not a scheduled meeting.

n The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free. Meetings are held in Rushville at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Rush Memorial Hospital, 1300 N. Main Street, third floor conference room. n Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club meetings are at 6:15 a.m. every Tuesday at Rush Memorial Hospital’s Kenneth Earnest Family Conference Center. Feel free to contact Shirley Biehl at 765-645-5410.

n A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics. n Rushville Kiwanis meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Elks Lodge in Rushville. Everyone is welcome to join us.

n The Rush County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets on the third Monday of every even month. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rushville Police Department meeting room, 270 W. 15th Street, Rushville. The public is welcome.
