"Five Minutes After You Die" – Luke Chapter 16:19-31 tells us exactly what happens after we die. It may be contrary to popular opinion, what television tells, or even some religious leaders would have us believe. When you read this story and begin to study and understand God's Word you realize God does not send people to hell, rather we send ourselves. He gives us every opportunity to believe in Him but it is ultimately our choice to make.
The rich man in this story had it all when it came to earthy possessions and wealth. He lived a life of luxury. However when he died he went to a life of torment and fire in hell. He didn't go to hell because of his wealth, rather it was his hard heart toward God and others.
We also learn about the beggar’s life after death which was very different. The angels came and took him to be at Abraham's side in heaven. The rich man could see the poor man in heaven and begged him for just even a touch of water on his tongue since he was in such agony. The rich man begged Abraham to warn his brothers to change their lives so they would not end up where he was.
"If they did not listen to Moses and the prophets they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead," Abraham replied.
Where will you be five minutes after death? Are you uncertain? Will you listen to the truth of the Bible or end up as the rich man begging for mercy when it is too late? The choice is up to you.

First Presbyterian Church
We joyfully welcome all to First Presbyterian Church on this Independence Day Weekend!
“Living From the Inside Out” is the focus of worship with Pastor Dena Vittorio. How do we LIVE as Christians and as citizens? How do we stand up and speak God’s good news in difficult times? Ezekiel 2:1-5 will guide our understanding.
Marena Vittorio is our organist playing sacred music including Charles Ives’ “Variations on America for Organ.” Organist Linda Hood and Marena will play a patriotic offertory as an organ and piano duet. Connie Martin will raise her voice in praise through a solo titled “How You Live” by Point of Grace. June Dawson will serve as Sunday liturgist.
We shall celebrate the Sacrament of Communion on this first Sunday of the month. It is Christ’s invitation that brings all believers to share in the Lord’s Table.
Worship includes a children’s message and nursery care is provided.
Come experience God’s grace in this church with the red doors located across from the library. Then, renewed with purpose, follow the Light of Christ throughout the new week.
Rushville Church of Christ
The worship and Communion service will be this Sunday. Jerry Holdman’s message will detail how we may fight and win the battle over temptations that come to us. There are several steps we must take to victory.
Jr. Church and Wee Worship will meet the same hour.
Sunday Bible Classes will meet after worship.
Tuesday Bible study will be Tuesday. Angel Food orders will be taken from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Vacation Bible School staff and workers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
