SEPTEMBER

WEDNESDAY (9/23)

n Friendly Homemakers Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Marilyn Schroeder. Margaret Reynolds will be co-hostess. Roll call: “Where did you go to school and when did you finish?” Lesson: “Challenges of healthy restaurant eating” by Margaret Reynolds. Everyone is invited to spend an afternoon of great friendship. Refreshments will be served.

n The Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Teresa Farthing. Lois Anderson will serve as co-hostess. Devotions will be given by Barbara Kuhn and Evonne Kuhn will present a lesson on "The Challenge of Healthy Restaurant Eating." Roll call is "Your Favorite Restaurant."

n Noble Niters will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the New Salem Lion’s Club building with Cheryl Kramer as hostess. Special activity will be Noble Niters’ Memory Program. Any former members are welcoemn to attend this meeting which celebrates 50 years of the club’s existence.



THURSDAY (9/24)

n Seasonal flu and pneumonia vaccines will be given at the Rush County Health Office Department, Room 105 at the courthouse. The vaccines will given from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Free-will donations will be welcome to cover the vaccine and administration cost. n Auditions for the upcoming children's production of the Rush County Players, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the RCP Playhouse, 201 W. Morgan Street, Rushville. For more information contact Cindy Amos at 765-561-5579.

n Food pantry will be at Rushville homecoming football game Fridfay. Will accept any non-perishble food items.



SATURDAY (9/26)

n Area Boy Scouts will participate in a Rush County Camporee Friday through Sunday at the amphitheater. Sept. 26 we invite Rush County to come and see what Boy Scouts is all about. There will be lots of activities for everyone to do, including a hog roast and a performance by the Crossroads of America Scout Band, so please join us for a day filled with fun and fellowship.

n Nu Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will be hosting its seventh annual kitchen tour from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Desert will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the home of Pam Jacobs, 135 S. Morgan Street, Rushville. Tickets available for $8 at the Shampoo Bowl.

n Cub Scouts Pack 27 will be selling Trail’s End popcorn starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Rushville Kroger store.

n Main Street Christian Church will host its inaugural community-wide fish fry 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The meal will feature hand-breaded fish, breaded tenderloins, french fries, a wide variety of side dishes and assorted homemade desserts. The cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carry-out will be available. Advance tickets may be purchased at the church office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. n Wheelchair Bowling event will be held Sunday at the Rushville Bowl. Proceeds from the event will benefit ARC of Rush County. Businesses, clubs, families and friends are invited to participate. n The 101st Land Reunion will be at noon Sunday at the Jackson Community Center. Bring a well-filled basket. Everyone welcome.

THURSDAY (10/2)

n Friends of Greensburg Public Library are having their annual book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 9 and 10 and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 in the library meeting room. The library is located at 1110 E. Main Street, Greensburg.



SATURDAY (10/10)

n The next eScrap Collection of electronics for recycling will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Perkins and Water Streets in the back garage of the Rush County Sheriff’s Department. There will be a small fee for televisions and computer monitors. All other items with a circuit board will be accepted at no charge. Call Clean Green Rush 765-938-1342 for questions.

n A Veterans Day program will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at Arlington Elementary School in the gymnasium. All veterans and interested persons are invited. For more information call the school at 765-663-2416.

n Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department will be riding in memory of fallen comrades Oct. 10 with proceeds to benefit the Kyle Henderson Scholarship Fund. MISCELLANEOUS

n Free student evaluations are being offered at Rushville Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for anyone of any age with the purpose of recovery from past struggles in school and/or at work. Some of the learning issues may include reading, math, how to learn, how to store information in the brain for the long-term instead of the short-term, how to be organized, how to focus and concentrate, how to take notes and tests, how to study, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and more. This free evaluation process will continue Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at RPL through at least the end of the year. For more information or questions call (765) 932-2490.

n The Community Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday and the last Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 109 East Third Street. Please bring your photo ID. Donations are welcome.

n The Board of Health for Rush County will hold its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday except for December, when there is not a scheduled meeting.

n The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free. Meetings are held in Rushville at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Rush Memorial Hospital, 1300 N. Main Street, third floor conference room.
