n A Veterans Day program will not be held at 9 a.m. today at Arlington Elementary School in the gymnasium. The program will be Nov. 10.
n The next eScrap Collection of electronics for recycling will be from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Perkins and Water streets in the back garage of the Rush County Sheriff’s Department. There will be a small fee for televisions and computer monitors. All other items with a circuit board will be accepted at no charge.
n Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department will be riding in memory of fallen comrades today with proceeds to benefit the Kyle Henderson Scholarship Fund. Registration from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Riders leave the Glenwood firehouse at 2 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and includes a meal at the end of the ride. n Trinity Presbyterian Church, Seventh and Harrison streets in Rushville, will have its annual spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Carry-out available. Tickets available from members or at the door. A portion of the profits have been designated to aid a cancer victim. Please come enjoy good food and fellowship.
n A multi-family rummage sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the New Salem Lions Club. This is a fundraiser for the RCHS band students’ Summer 2010 Europe trip.
n The annual Westland School Reunion will be today at Shiloh Christian Church. Shiloh Church is at the intersection of Hancock County roads 500 East and 500 South. Anyone who attended Westland School is welcome. Social hour is at 11 a.m. with dinner served at noon. Cost is $12 per person at the door. Call 317-462-7873 to make reservations.

n Big Flatrock Christian Church would like to invite everyone to its annual Knowles Shaw/Homecoming Celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday. n Sign-ups for the fourth grade Girl Scouts troop will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Girl Scouts cabin located at 1321 North Sexton Street. n Hint Hunters Homemakers Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Betsy Fox, 1109 North Main Street, Rushville, with Rochelle Christan as cohostess. Roll call will be favorite Halloween movie and program “Staying Healthy by Staying Fit” will be given by Betsy Fox.
n The Rushville Chapter of DAR will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Priscilla Winkler's. Martha Barnhart, state Regent will present the program. The Twin Forks chapter will be guests.
n American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 150 will have its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Legion Post in Rushville. Discussion topics will be community programs and budget. We look forward to seeing all past and present Auxiliary members and anyone interested in what the Auxiliary is doing here in the community.
THURSDAY (10/15)
n The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will be closed Thursday and Friday for training. The Earlybird will not be available during this time. If questions call William Walker at 932-2765.
n Rush County Health Department will hold a senior screening from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carthage Community Building. Health education will be included. Referrals to private physicians will be made when needed. This is available to all Rush County senior citizens at no cost. For those not in the Carthage area, screening will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in Room 105 of the courthouse.
FRIDAY (10/16)
n St. Mary School will have a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 in the Root Building, Rush County Fairgrounds. Bag sale $2 from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Furniture, household, clothing of all sizes, decor, toys and books.

n Rushville Vintage & Modern Race Car Benefit Show Fan Appreciation Day will feature a hog roast from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 at the RushShelby Energy Community Building, Rush County Fairgrounds. n RCHS Fall Choir Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20. All five choirs of our state-recognized choral department combine for the first concert of the year. Free admission.
n The Memory Crafters Club will visit Mrs. B's scrapbook store in Greensburg. We will leave the Main Street Christian Church parking lot at 6:30 p.m. We hope you can join us. We are a group of people preserving our memories with friends. There are no membership dues.

n The Jackson School alumni will have their 17th annual reunion Oct. 25 at the Jackson Community Building (located where the school used to stand). Pitch-in starts at 12:30 p.m. Please bring a covered dish. We provide the plates, silverware and drinks. Plan to attend if you ever went to Jackson Township School or had friends who attended. Everyone is welcome.

n Psi Iota Xi Iota chapter of Rushville will be making wonderful cheeseballs just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas. n Free student evaluations are being offered at Rushville Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for anyone of any age with the purpose of recovery from past struggles in school and/or at work. Some of the learning issues may include reading, math, how to learn, how to store information in the brain for the long-term instead of the short-term, how to be organized, how to focus and concentrate, how to take notes and tests, how to study, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and more. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free.
