NARFE Chapter 0813 met Oct. 20 at the Dutch Mill Buffet with 25 members and five guests present. The meeting was conducted by acting president Eva Stone.
Guest speaker was Eugene Alvarez, a representative of Blue Cross Blue Shield. He spoke on the 2010 service benefit plan information for annuitants.
New member Kay Wolfe of Arlington was welcomed. Treasurer Jeannine Bateman noted she had sent donations to the senior centers in Shelby, Rush, Fayette and Decatur counties. Membership chairman Eva Vanatta announced that Terry Wilds of Greensburg is a new member.
Area 3 vice-president Geneva Greenlee installed the following officers for 2009-2010: president, Eva Stone; second vice-president, Rita Flack; secretary, Joan Fix; treasurer, Gertrude Wickliff. First vice-president Kay Hineman will be installed at a later date.
Bill and Aleen Thackery were celebrating their 52nd anniversary. Jack and Joan Fix planned to celebrate their 58th anniversary Oct. 28.
Next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Dutch Mill Buffet with optional lunch following the meeting.
