NOVEMBER

THURSDAY (11/19)

n RMH Sheehan Cancer Center support group will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Sheehan Cancer Center, 110 E. 13th Street, Rushville. Bring friends and family. Open to anyone regardless of where you are being treated. For more information call 765-932-7534.

n Rush County Health Department will hold a senior screening from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the Rush County Senior Center. There will be screening for weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, hemoglobin, blood sugar and hemocult testing. Also, health education will be included. This is available to all Rush County senior citizens at no cost. Note change of starting time to 9 a.m.

n The ICAP board of directors will meet at 7 p.m. today at the New Castle ICAP office.



FRIDAY (11/20)

n The Rushville Elks Lodge will host their annual Clothe-A-Child gala Friday with dinner served from 5 to 8 p.m., an auction bucks Monte Carlo from 6 to 8 p.m., and an auction of a wide variety of goods, services, and tickets from 8 p.m. to close. Open to the public.



SATURDAY (11/21)

n Milroy Community Club will have its fall breakfast fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Milroy Fire Station/Community Building. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Tickets can be pre-purchased from club members or at the door. Proceeds used for the Milroy Community Club’s yearly community service events.

n Decatur County Family YMCA 32nd annual Tree City Run is Saturday; 10K run begins at 10 a.m., 5K run and 5K walk begin at 10:05 a.m. Registration is $20 through Nov. 20, $25 on race day. For more information call 812-663-9622, or visit www.decaturcountyfamilyymca.org.



SUNDAY (11/22)

n Rush County Bikers - Toys for Tots 17th annual chili dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the RushShelby Energy Community Building at the Rush County Fairgrounds. Tickets on sale now from members or at Admiral gas station; $5 per person, 12 and under free. Door prizes and drawing. Santa will be present from noon to 1 p.m. Everyone welcome.



MONDAY (11/23)

n The Milroy Monday Study Circle will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Milroy Methodist Church. Please note the time change.



SATURDAY (11/28)

n The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County is currently signing up for boys seventh and eighth grade leagues and ninth through 12th grade leagues. Sign-ups will run through Nov. 28. Play begins Dec. 1 and 3. Must be a club member. Dues $25, program fee $15. Late fee $5. If unable to pay talk to CPO William Walker at 932-2765. Participants receive T-shirt. No child will be turned away due to inability to pay.



SUNDAY (11/29)

n A traditional service “Advent Lessons and Carols” will be presented by the Cathedral Girls’ Choir and Choirmen at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at Christ Church Cathedral (www.cccindy.org).



DECEMBER

WEDNESDAY (12/2)

n Arlington Elementary School is collecting canned food and clothes for The Drive event sponsored by The League again this year. The school is accepting clothing including shoes and canned food through Nov. 25 (the day before Thanksgiving). All food items will be donated to Arlington Christian Church’s food pantry for distribution in our community. AES will have a “Clothing Free-for-All” from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 2 in the school gym to distribute clothing to our community. All clothing items will be free to those who come.

n The Rush County Senior Center will host its annual Christmas Bazaar in conjunction with the Beta Sigma Phi Candlelight Home Tour from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2. We are taking reservations for booth space for the bazaar. If interested call 932-2935.



THURSDAY (12/3)

n A blood drive is set to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3. The bloodmobile will be parked in the Trane parking lot. All donors will receive a Colt’s football autographed by No. 28 Marlin Jackson (defensive back).



SUNDAY (12/6)

n “A Ceremony of Carols and “Gloria” will be presented by the Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Christ Church Cathedral (www.cccindy.org) as part of the Choral Masterworks Series.



MISCELLANEOUS

n It’s almost time for the 62nd annual pilgrimage to Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Va. People wanting to drop off items can do so at Fraley Implements, Jackman's Animal Clinic, Buck Creek Veterinary Clinic, Rushville Pharmacy, Odum's Feed Barn, and Pizza King (North and South). Monetary donations can be taken to any Rush County bank. For more information about how you can help call 765-561-3932, 317-339-5286 or 765-525-4400. No used clothing will be taken this year as they have an overabundance of used clothing.

n Support the troops through the holidays: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 150 would like to have the names of those family members who are serving our country that are in our community. We are wanting to be a support group for the family members that are home waiting for their soldier to return, and be able to send care packages to them. Contact the post at 765-561-8896 and allow us to have the information requested. Special thanks to those families that are serving with their loved ones for our freedom.

n AA and Al-Anon meet at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

n Al-Anon meets at 6 p.m. every Monday at 333 N. Main Street in Rushville. For information call 765-593-0141.

n Here’s Hope, a Christ-centered, Bible-based support group for anyone that is alcohol or drug dependent meets at 6:30 p.m. every first and third Monday. Call (765) 698-2855 and ask for Rob.

n A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone is welcome.

n The DAV veterans van is now in Rush County. If you have an appointment at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis call (765) 932-3075, seven to 10 days in advance. Veterans who need a ride sooner call (765) 561-5445 or (765) 932-2703.

n The Community Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday and the last Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 109 East Third Street. Please bring your photo ID. Donations are welcome.

n The Rush County Victim's Assistance, Inc. has its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For location please contact the office at 938-1555. The public always is invited to attend. For more information contact Barbara Kuhn at 938-1555.

n The Board of Health for Rush County will hold its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday except for December, when there is not a scheduled meeting.

n The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free. Meetings are held in Rushville at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Rush Memorial Hospital, 1300 N. Main Street, third floor conference room. n Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club meetings are at 6:15 a.m. every Tuesday at the Country Cooker Restaurant. Feel free to contact Shirley Biehl at 765-645-5410.

n A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics. n Rushville Kiwanis meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Elks Lodge in Rushville. Everyone is welcome to join us.

n The Rush County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets on the third Monday of every even month. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rushville Police Department meeting room, 270 W. 15th Street, Rushville. The public is welcome.
