TUESDAY (12/15)

n The Rush County Libertarian party invites all interested persons to a public meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rushville Public Library, 130 W. Third Street, Rushville. Libertarians believe in the American heritage of liberty, enterprise and personal responsibility. Also, in smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom, and that the government should work under the guide of the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the state of Indiana.

n Farm Bureau Insurance will host a retirement open house for Joe Keith from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at 1056 South Old 3, Rushville. Everyone is welcome.

n The Memory Crafters Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Main Street Christian Church. There will be a $5 gift exchange and snacks. For more information about Memory Crafters Club you can contact Melody Lemmons at 765-525-9445.

n The Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will have a Christmas dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Norene Wright. The officers will cohost and Marjorie Carmony will give devotions. Members will enjoy a secret pal gift exchange.

n The Rushville Board of Public Works and Safety will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers, 270 W. 15th Street, Rushville. The Rushville Common Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.



THURSDAY (12/17)

n RMH Sheehan Cancer Center Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Sheehan Cancer Center, 110 E. 13th Street, Rushville. Bring friends and family. Open to anyone regardless of where you are being treated. Questions, call 765-932-7534.



FRIDAY (12/18)

n Christmas bake sale and silent auction sponsored by RMH Cultivation Club will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Kenneth L. Earnest Family Conference Center at the RMH Medical Office Building. All proceeds benefit the Brian’s Cause Rush County Cancer Treatment Relief Fund.



SATURDAY (12/19)

n The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will host its annual Christmas parties for the youth of Rush County Dec. 19. The boys’ party will begin at 9 a.m. and the girls’ party will begin at noon. Open to all children ages 5 to 19; club membership not required. All attendees receive a gift as well as a snack.

n Milroy Community Club is having Santa Claus visit Burns Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 19. Gifts and candy will be given out then. Public is welcome. Questions can be directed to Richard Burns at 629-2234.



SUNDAY (12/20)

n One Voice will be featured at the Second Baptist Church Christmas Cantata at 5 p.m. Dec. 20. The church is located at 520 E. Seventh Street, Rushville. Community members are cordially invited.



FRIDAY (12/25) Christmas

n There will be a live nativity from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 25 at 2145 Flatrock River Road. From the Rush County Courthouse in Rushville go west 1.25 miles on SR 44, then turn south on Flatrock River Road. Go 1.6 miles and look for the live nativity in the big white barn on the right. Jerry and Linda Petty wish to invite the community as they share the story of the birth of the Christ child.



MISCELLANEOUS

n Support the troops through the holidays: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 150 would like to have the names of those family members who are serving our country that are in our community. We are wanting to be a support group for the family members that are home waiting for their soldier to return, and be able to send care packages to them. Contact the post at 765-561-8896 and allow us to have the information requested. Special thanks to those families that are serving with their loved ones for our freedom.

n AA and Al-Anon meet at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

n Al-Anon meets at 6 p.m. every Monday at 333 N. Main Street in Rushville. For information call 765-593-0141.

n Here’s Hope, a Christ-centered, Bible-based support group for anyone that is alcohol or drug dependent meets at 6:30 p.m. every first and third Monday. Call (765) 698-2855 and ask for Rob.

n A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone is welcome.

n The DAV veterans van is now in Rush County. If you have an appointment at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis call (765) 932-3075, seven to 10 days in advance. Veterans who need a ride sooner call (765) 561-5445 or (765) 932-2703.

n The Community Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday and the last Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 109 East Third Street. Please bring your photo ID. Donations are welcome.

n The Rush County Victim's Assistance, Inc. has its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For location please contact the office at 938-1555. The public always is invited to attend. For more information contact Barbara Kuhn at 938-1555.

n The Board of Health for Rush County will hold its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday except for December, when there is not a scheduled meeting.

n The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free. Meetings are held in Rushville at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Rush Memorial Hospital, 1300 N. Main Street, third floor conference room. n Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club meetings are at 6:15 a.m. every Tuesday at the Country Cooker Restaurant. Feel free to contact Shirley Biehl at 765-645-5410.

n A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics. n Rushville Kiwanis meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Elks Lodge in Rushville. Everyone is welcome to join us.

n The Rush County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets on the third Monday of every even month. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rushville Police Department meeting room, 270 W. 15th Street, Rushville. The public is welcome.
