Candlelight home tour set for Wednesday
The Xi Eta Xi Beta Sigma Phi candlelight tour of homes will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Homes on the tour this year are Al and Susie Odum, Larry Conover, Alvin and Charlotte Sippel, Robert and Jan Poldervaart.
The Rush County Senior Center will host its annual Christmas bazaar from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the Center in conjunction with the home tour.
Tickets for the home tour are $6 and may be purchased from any Xi Eta Xi member, at the Senior Center, Bridal Boutique or Park Restaurant. The night of the tour they can be purchased only at the Senior Center.
Al and Susie Odum home, 1643 US 52 West, Rushville. This house was built in 1900, remodeled in the mid-1960s and a porch and gazebo added in 1998. In January 2004 the house was mostly destroyed by fire. The original house was torn down to the studs and put back to its original look on the outside.
Inside changes were made, making the rooms more open, and a new kitchen installed. A double fireplace between the living and sitting rooms was kept and a brick arch added.
