Former resident working with Peace Corps in Uganda

Brian Dunn, a Peace Corps volunteer in Uganda, was asked by the Ambassador of the United States in Uganda to sing the National Anthem at the Fourth of July ceremony at his house where around 500 Americans celebrated Independence Day.

In March Dunn joined about 50 Peace Corps volunteers currently serving in Uganda, a land-locked country in eastern Africa bordered by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and Tanzania. During his 27 months in the country, he is assigned through the Ministry of Education.

After a stay in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, Dunn now is in a small village called Ntyungamo in the southern part of the country near Rwanda.

Dunn was one of 37 new volunteers honored March 4 honored March 4 at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston as part of the celebration of the Peace Corps’ 45th anniversary.

Dunn is a graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and Purdue University. He taught two years at Morristown High School.
