MONDAY (4/20)

n Heart in Hand Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Country Quilt Barn located on U.S. 52 between Rushville and Arlington. Come share your love of quilts. Lesson will be on quilt binding. Guests are always welcome. For information call 565-6170.

n Monday Circle will meet at 7:15 p.m. Monday at Edna Moster’s home. Program presenter will be Martha Gooldy. Regrets only to hostesses Edna Moster and Karmen Gulde.

n Rush County Master Gardeners and Friends will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Assembly Room of the Rush County Courthouse. Program by Steve Thoman will be on “Viability of Viticulture in Rush County." Steve and his siblings are starting a vineyard on the family farm. Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to attend.



TUESDAY (4/21)

n The Rushville Board of Works and Safety will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers, 270 W. 15th Street. The Common Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers. Both meetings open to all interested persons.

n The Rush County Schools Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the corporation’s administrative office building, 330 W. Eighth Street, Rushville. Open to all interested persons.

n The Memory Crafters scrapbook club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Main Street Christian Church. Lesson will be “How Do Rub-on Stickers Work?” After a short lesson there will be time to work on your scrapbook pages or cards.



WEDNESDAY (4/22)

n Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will have a dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Park Restaurant in Rushville. Kellie Kuhn is co-hostess.

n Friendly Homemakers Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Barbara Robbins with Sue Huber cohostess and giving the Inspiration. Roll call will be “First Sign of Spring.” Lesson will be “Laugh Aerobics.” Dues are to be paid at this meeting. Everyone is invited to come have good fellowship.

n Miller’s Merry Walkers Relay for Life team spaghetti dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living section, Rushville. Donation $5.



THURSDAY (4/23)

n RCHS Drama Dept. to present Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and April 25 and at 2 p.m. April 26. Tickets are $6 and on sale now.



FRIDAY (4/24)

n Family Movie Night at Plum Creek Christian Church will be at 7 p.m. Friday. Featuring the new Veggie Tale movie "Abe and the Amazing Promise" shown on the big screen. Refreshments, prizes and no charge. Children, don't forget to bring your parents. If you have any questions call 645-5058.

n Milroy United Methodist Church will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon April 25. Fill a sack for a dollar. Lots of children’s clothing, books, shoes — something for everyone.

n St. Mary School will have a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon April 25 in the Root Building, Rush County Fairgrounds. Bag $1 from 10 a.m. to noon April 25. Furniture, household, clothing of all ages and sizes, decor, toys and books.



SATURDAY (4/25)

n Lewisville Lodge No. 72 F.&A.M.; and Eastern Star No. 463 will host a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. April 25 at the Lewisville Masonic Temple. Open to the public.

n Holy Strollers Relay for Life team candlelight dinner with seating at 6:15 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. will be April 25 in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (Rushville) basement. Donation $12 per person. For reservations call 765-932-4652 or 765-932-3777.

n The Carthage School Friends will meet from noon until 3 p.m. April 25 at the Ponderosa in Greenfield. Old pictures would add to the event. For more information call Hester at 317-513-2438 or Linda at 317-319-8391.



TUESDAY (4/28)

n Noble Niters will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 28 at the home of Marlene Fudge for a mystery dinner. Roll call response will be favorite Easter candy. Inspiration by Linda Murphy. There will be a seed exchange.



WEDNESDAY (4/29)

n Benjamin Rush Middle School athletic physicals will be given from 5 to 7 p.m. April 29 at Rush Memorial Hospital. Fee is $15. Enter through 13th Street entrance. For returning seventh graders and sixth graders.

SATURDAY (5/2)

n The Manilla School reunion will be May 2 at the Manilla Lions Club. Former students, teachers and staff are welcome. Registration starts at noon, meal served at 1 p.m. Cost $14. Checks should be made payable to Manilla Alumni Association and mailed by April 21 to Teola Carmony, 2007 Augusta Court, Shelbyville IN 46176. Honored classes will be 1949 and 1959. n Team Air Force Relay for Life team gospel sing: first session will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., second session from 7 to 9 p.m. May 2 at the amphitheater in Riverside Park, Rushville. Bring a lawn chair. Blood mobile from 4 to 8 p.m. Other Relay teams may set up.

n The Rush County Chorale and Children's Choir will present their annual Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. May 2 and 2:30 p.m. May 3 at the Laughlin Center. The Chorale will be accompanied by orchestra. Tickets are $6 and available from the Chamber of Commerce, Rushville Pharmacy, Elizabeth's Keepsake & Collectibles and any Chorale or Children’s choir members.

n There will be a community student dance "Beach Monkey” for kindergarten through sixth grade from 6 to 9 p.m. May 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Individual admission $3; $5 family. DJ Frank Denzler. Sponsored by St. Mary School PTA.



SATURDAY (5/16)

n Stella’s Star Cruisers Relay for Life team car wash will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 behind the Rush County Sheriff’s Department (south side) in Rushville. Free-will offering.



SUNDAY (5/17)

n Rush County Players Relay for Life team “Are You Ready for Your Close-up?” May 17 at Rushville Comfort Inn meeting room. Walk-ins welcome, appointments preferred. Call 765-969-5698 to schedule an appointment. Players will do hair, makeup, costume items, jewelry and mini-fashion shoot. Pictures can be taken home on a disc for $20 donation.



TUESDAY (5/19)

n Shelby County Players will have auditions for Little Shop of Horrors from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 19 and 20. Callbacks 6:30 p.m. May 22. Performances are July 24, 25, 26, 31, Aug. 1 and 2. Casting needs: three men age 18 and over, one woman 18 through 30, three female harmonizing singers, Skid Row chorus and extras, voice of plant and operator. Have a prepared song ready, bring a tape or sing a cappella.



THURSDAY (5/21)

n Rush RFL Relay for Life team will hostess and wait tables at Ponderosa in Greensburg from 4 to 8 p.m. May 21 with 20 percent of sales and all tips going to ACS Relay for Life.



SATURDAY (5/23)

n Donnie’s Lil’ Harley Angels Relay for Life team: Volunteers will pump gas and wash windows from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 23 at Admiral gas station on South Main Street in Rushville. Hot dog, bag of chips and drink for $5 donation.



SATURDAY (5/30)

n Cathy’s Cousins Relay for Life team: Corn hole tournament with 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. start in South Veteran’s Memorial Park in Rushville. Donation $5 per person.



MISCELLANEOUS

n The Rush County Health Department will not have senior screening in April at Carthage or in the department. The next screening will be in May. Questions may be directed to 765-932-3103.

n Have you ever thought of a Catholic school education for your child? Have you ever considered the benefits of a faith-based school? St. Mary Catholic School is accepting names for preschool, kindergarten and new students in grades one through six for the 2009/2010 school year. n Rushville Public Library after-school programs run through May 2009. From 4 to 5 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month is for kindergarten through second grade. From 4 to 5 p.m. the second Wednesday is for third through fifth grade. From 4 to 6 p.m. the third Wednesday is for sixth through 12th grade. No school, no program. n A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone is welcome.

n The Community Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday and the last Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 109 East Third Street. Please bring your photo ID. Donations are welcome.

n The Rush County Victim's Assistance, Inc. has its monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For location please contact the office at 938-1555. The public always is invited to attend. For more information contact Barbara Kuhn at 938-1555.

n The Board of Health for Rush County will hold its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday except for December, when there is not a scheduled meeting.

n The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free. Meetings are held in Rushville at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Rush Memorial Hospital, 1300 N. Main Street, third floor conference room. n A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics. n Rushville Kiwanis meets at 6 p.m. on the first, third and fifth Wednesday of each month at the Flatrock Grill in Rushville. Everyone is welcome.

n The Rush County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets on the third Monday of every even month. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rushville Police Department meeting room, 270 W. 15th Street, Rushville. The public is welcome.
