Local student graduates Magna Cum Laude at Blackhawk College

Blackhawk College, East campus located in Kewanee, Ill. recently held commencement exercises. Curtis Naylor was a member of the Class of 2009. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, International Honor Society.

Naylor received Associate in Applied Science degrees in Agri-Business Management and Agriculture Production Technology. He also received certificates in Animal Science, Beef Production and Swine Production along with Agri-business Management Crop Protection Technology Option. Naylor was awarded the distinction of top Agriculture student for 2009. He currently is working for Winfield Solutions, LLC.



Local residents graduate from Emory University

The following received a degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., at its 164th commencement

ceremony May 11, 2009.

Marena Vittorio, of Rushville, received a Master of Sacred Music from the Graduate School of Emory University; Zane Zeigler, Greenfield, received an Associate in Arts from Oxford College of Emory University.

Marian College announces graduates, posts Dean’s List

Local students who earned a degree during the 2008-2009 academic year at Marian College are: Kelly Lynn Moffett, BA, Elementary Education, Rushville; Ashley Nicole Rapp, BSN, Nursing, Rushville.

On July 1 Marian College will become Marian University.

Rush County students who qualified for the Marian College Dean’s List include: Arica J. Coleman, Marketing, Carthage; Laura Elizabeth Neuman, Spanish, Rushville.

A student whose grade point average for the semester is 3.5 or above who was enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and has not earned any incompletes is eligible to be named to the list.

Marian College is the only Catholic liberal arts college in Central Indiana. It is a private, co-education school located two miles from downtown Indianapolis.



Vincennes University Dean’s List announced

The Vincennes University Dean's List for spring semester 2009 includes students from the Vincennes campus, Jasper campus, Aviation Technology Center in Indianapolis, military bases, and other extended sites. To qualify for the Dean's List a student must complete at least 12 credit hours and achieve a grade point index of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Franklin College releases Dean's List for spring 2009

Franklin College has announced its Dean's List for the spring semester. Students named to the Dean's List have achieved academic distinction by earning a 3.5 grade point average or above.

The following students are from Central Indiana:

Olivia M. Lower, a senior, is the daughter of David and Mindy Lower of Rushville.

Kaila Marie Brannon, a sophomore, is the daughter of Mike and Gina Brannon of Greenfield.

Breanna Nicole Camacho, a junior, is the daughter of Cynthia Rodriguez of Shelbyville.

Kathryn L. Coffin, a sophomore, is the daughter of Rick and Carolyn Coffin of Greenfield.

Hannah Elizabeth Donahue, a sophomore, is the daughter of Beth Donahue of Greenfield.

Duane T. Elsbury, a sophomore, is the son of Michael and Julie Elsbury of Greenfield.

Paul Michael Galbraith, a senior, is the son of Mark and Dana Galbraith of Greenfield.

Brooke Nicole Gilbert, a junior, is the daughter of Mr. John R. Gilbert, Jr. of Shelbyville and Mrs. Kimberley Mohr of Fairland.

Jessica Renee Kieninger, a junior, is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Kieninger of Shelbyville.

Amanda Jo McCormick, a junior, is the daughter of Ronnie McCormick and Connie Belcher of Greenfield.

Chelsea S. Parks, a junior, is the daughter of Patrick and Michelle Parks of Shelbyville.

Lauren Denise Rush, a freshman, is the daughter of David and Sandy Rush of Shelbyville.

Heather Renee Waterman, a junior, is the daughter of John and Becky Waterman of Shelbyville.

Brandon Alan Weidner, a junior, is the son of Mark and Cynthia Weidner of Shelbyville.

Founded in 1834, Franklin College is a residential four-year undergraduate liberal arts institution 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis. The college prepares men and women for significant careers through the liberal arts, offering its 1,108 students 29 majors including biology, business, education and journalism. In 1842, Franklin College began admitting women, becoming the first coeducational institution in Indiana and the seventh in the nation. Franklin College maintains a voluntary association with the American Baptist Churches USA.
