THURSDAY (7/2)
n The Rush County Health Department will conduct its next immunization clinic for children from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 105 of the Rush County Courthouse. Parents or guardians are required to sign permission forms each time the child receives an immunization. Records of previous immunizations should be brought in with the child. These clinics are held the first Thursday of each month. Questions may be directed to 765-932-3103, Rush County Health Department.
FRIDAY (7/3)
n Preview of the Indiana Historical Society’s traveling exhibit, The Faces of Lincoln, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the 201 Building on Main Street in Rushville for Rush County Historical Society members.
SATURDAY (7/4)
n Due to the July 4 holiday, the CleanGreenRush Tox-Away Center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon July 11 instead of the usual first Saturday to collect household hazardous waste.
n Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club will hold its 23rd annual Fourth of July Car Show in North Veterans Memorial Park west of SR 3 in Rushville. Registration opens at 8 a.m. July 4 with awards presented at 3 p.m.. Registration fee is only $15. All proceeds are used by the Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club to benefit Rush County youth programs.
n Holiday activities: 11 a.m. Fourth of July parade will run from Third Street on Main Street to 11th, go west on 11th to Sexton and end in the fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to participate. Line up begins at 9 a.m. at Third and Perkins streets. 5 p.m. Sexton Street from 16th Street to Foster Heights will be closed to through traffic until after 10 p.m. because of the presence of the fireworks display. 8 to 10 p.m. DJ dance on the Rushville Elementary north parking lot. Everyone is invited to come early and listen to good music in anticipation of the fireworks display. 10 p.m. Fireworks Spectacular, Freedom 2009, will be shot from the field north of Rushville Elementary School, choreographed to patriotic music aired on WKPW (90.7). Please note: this is a change of radio stations. For everyone’s safety, please leave personal fireworks at home.

THURSDAY (7/9)
n All local 1118 UAW who are drawing a pension from union are eligible to come to a retiree dinner at 11:30 a.m. July 9 at Eastside Methodist Church in Connersville. Please bring a filled covered dish. All drinks, plates, etc. will be provided. Come alone or bring a spouse/friend. Widows welcome. It’s a casual event so come relax and enjoy time with old friends.
n The Gingham Pals Home Ec Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 9 at the Park Restaurant for dinner, with an afterglow party at the home of Ann Hamill. Program books with lessons and meetings will be filled out at this time.
SATURDAY (7/11)
n The annual Neeb Open will be the second weekend of July. The golf event will be held at Antler Pointe Golf Course on July 11 and the tee time is set for 7:30 a.m. Men and women are both welcome and encouraged to play.
n The Indiana Historical Society’s traveling exhibit, The Faces of Lincoln, can be seen at the Rush County Historical Society’s Gowdy House Museum, 601 N. Perkins, from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Thursdays through July and from 1 to 3 p.m. July 11, 19 and Aug. 2.

n Memory Crafters will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 21 at Main Street Christian Church. We will have a short lesson, then there will be time to work on your own project and/or see what everyone else is working on. You don’t have to be a member to attend.

n Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. July 22 at the home of Lori Kuhn with Evonne Kuhn as cohostess. Virginia Rogers will give devotions. New program books will be distributed and members will complete the books for the upcoming year.

n Rushville Elks third annual Golfers vs. Cancer Golf Tournament will have a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start July 26. Four person scramble, total handicap 45 or more, only one team member with under 10 handicap.

n Registration for Rushville Elementary School will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 30 and from 8 a.m. until noon July 31.

n Enrollment for all Benjamin Rush Middle School students in grades seven and eight for the 2009-2010 school year will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 6. BRMS, 1601 N. Sexton Street, Rushville.

n The Board of Health for Rush County will hold its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday except for December, when there is not a scheduled meeting.
n The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with issues they face and the latest information about research. Meetings are confidential and free.
