RUSHVILLE —
Friends Too met Oct. 26 at the historical home owned by the Rush County Historical Society. Our hostess was Priscilla Winkler whose ancestors built the house. The meeting was opened by our president Roberta Cole.
Our meeting was based on, "A Day in the Life of a Homemaker in the late 1880s," which was planned by Eleanor Conrad and Barbara Harcourt.
Ann McDaniel and Pat Shirk gave the information on how people lived and kept house at that time and showed the special clothing and equipment. Priscilla Winkler demonstrated how the early cooking, sewing and cleaning equipment was used.
The house and its furnishings were recently filmed by an Indianapolis television crew. We will look forward to viewing that program.
Everyone was impressed by the construction of the house and the display of furniture and draperies. There are collections of glass ware, china, textiles and furnishings.
Cookies were served made from recipes of that time period along with tea and cider.
Membership information for the Rush County Historical Society was distributed.
