Smith joins Centerstone's board of directors

RUSHVILLE — Centerstone, a not-for-profit organization providing a wide range of mental health and addiction services, announced that Brad Smith, CEO of Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Ind., has been named to its board of directors. Smith will serve alongside 19 other Indiana community and business leaders to support Centerstone's mission to prevent and cure mental illness and addiction; and guide the organization's operations and policies statewide.

"It is an honor to welcome Brad to our board of directors," said Suzanne Koesel, CEO of Centerstone of Indiana. "Brad's expertise in healthcare management and his genuine concern for the well-being of his community make him an excellent addition to our team. This is another step towards better meeting the needs of Indiana residents affected by mental illnesses and addictions."

Smith, who will represent Rush County on Centerstone's board, brings a wealth of financial and administrative healthcare management experience to Centerstone. Prior to becoming CEO of Rush Memorial Hospital in 2004, Smith served six years as the hospital's CFO. He also has held positions within the mental health field as an accountant, controller and CFO at Community Mental Health Center and the Dunn Center.

Smith's professional affiliations include president of Indiana Hospital Association, chairman of Indiana Rural Health Council, and elected member of American Hospital Association's Small and Rural Governing Council. He established the Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation and is an active volunteer in the Rushville community. Smith earned his bachelor's degree in finance from Ball State University in Muncie.
