RUSHVILLE —
Dear Editor: The family of Kathleen Ragan, the little 4-year-old from Rushville who was hospitalized from July 2 to July 23 with E. coli resulting in Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, a disease of the kidneys, wishes to thank first and foremost the many churches for their prayer chains. Without the prayers, Kathleen’s outcome would have been much different. Thanks to Rush Memorial Hospital doctors and nurses, the Peyton Manning Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for their excellent care. Thanks to the media for getting the word out on E. coli to make others aware of the dangers of such illness. To Kasey Crabtree from Milton for setting up the Prayers for Kathleen on Facebook and to the over thousands of responders. Thanks to Brenda and associates at Village Pantry and Brad Mahan and members at the Elks for their many cards and toys to help Kathleen take her mind off her ouchies. Last, but by no means least, the many people who took time from their busy lives to sit at the hospital with Kathleen so her mommy could have a break. Kathleen is still under the doctor’s care at the Peyton Manning hospital, but now is the happy-go-lucky little girl she was before July 2. All the many prayers and acts of kindness will forever be remembered. Angel Campbell Ragan, her mother Bill and Brenda Merrell, grandparentsLetters to the Editor

A heartfelt thanks
On May 2, I had a medical emergency. My wife called 911 and the Mays/Raleigh Ambulance was dispatched.

Parking on Jackson
In regards to Jackson Street being turned into a two-way street, I think it is time that the city stops people from parking the way they did when the restaurant was there. It is a hazard and makes it impossible to drive when there is oncoming traffic.
