RUSHVILLE —
Dear Editor: I recently attended a local dance studio’s dance recital. I had a grandchild dancing in this recital. I was horrified as I sat with friends, family and neighbors and watched little girls and young girls dressed scantily and made to look like grown women. They danced to music lyrics that were so vulgar I could hardly believe my ears. It left me wanting to weep for our children and wondering what would be the next step if they decided to pursue a dancing career — a stripper’s pole? I suppose the thing that I was most disturbed by were the mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers showing their approval by applause. One of the dances had the young girls acting according to the lyrics of the song, turning their backsides up and out to the audience as the music blared “kiss my a--.” In the quiet of a day we often sit and muse, “What has happened to our young folks?” Let me ask, “What has happened to their grandparents and parents?” When we watch our children, usually they reflect us. My heart ached for the little, innocent children there learning by example — a bad example, I might add. Come on people, wake up. Don’t expect to reap different than what we are now sowing. Re Leising's efforts for rural Indiana
Dear Editor:
Bravo, State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg)! Thank you for authoring
Senate Resolution 10, establishing a legislative study committee "to study
the causes of and solutions for higher than state average unemployment
rates and lower than state average per capita income in certain Hoosier
counties" (New Castle Courier Times, Jan. 24). -

Is Romney still a conservative? TV media doesn't think so
Dear Editor:
It's interesting to note that television reporters and talking heads now use the term "conservative" to refer only to those on the extreme far right. -
Right to Work: What's the rush?
Dear Editor:
Why the rush to pass Right to Work? The Republicans have all the power and could pass this anytime during this short session. -

RE: Forced "fairness" not government's role
Dear Editor,
I again find myself puzzled by Mr. Barada's columns.
It seems that Mr. Barada believes that that there is an Obama-occupy army waiting around every street corner to kidnap our children and force them into a life of Socialist servitude. -
What about The Star Spangled Banner?
Dear Editor,
When it was recently announced that an Indiana state Senator had introduced a bill calling for rules regulating the performance of our national anthem, some of you may have groaned, "Well, Norm Voiles will certainly weigh in on that one!" -
Union myths
Dear Editor:
If Hoosiers wish to break free from the chains of stagnation and lead the
country on the road to recovery, they should embrace the right-to-work law. - More Letters to the Editor Headlines
