RUSHVILLE —
Dear Editor: I recently attended a local dance studio’s dance recital. I had a grandchild dancing in this recital. I was horrified as I sat with friends, family and neighbors and watched little girls and young girls dressed scantily and made to look like grown women. They danced to music lyrics that were so vulgar I could hardly believe my ears. It left me wanting to weep for our children and wondering what would be the next step if they decided to pursue a dancing career — a stripper’s pole? I suppose the thing that I was most disturbed by were the mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers showing their approval by applause. One of the dances had the young girls acting according to the lyrics of the song, turning their backsides up and out to the audience as the music blared “kiss my a--.” In the quiet of a day we often sit and muse, “What has happened to our young folks?” Let me ask, “What has happened to their grandparents and parents?” When we watch our children, usually they reflect us. My heart ached for the little, innocent children there learning by example — a bad example, I might add. Come on people, wake up. Don’t expect to reap different than what we are now sowing. Parking on Jackson
In regards to Jackson Street being turned into a two-way street, I think it is time that the city stops people from parking the way they did when the restaurant was there. It is a hazard and makes it impossible to drive when there is oncoming traffic.
