Golf outing a success

RUSHVILLE — Dear Editor:

Jon and Mark Lykins had their annual charity golf outing Aug. 18 at Antler Point Golf Club with a dinner following at the Rushville American Legion.

Each year, they choose a Rush County individual or family who has met with a health-related hardship that has resulted in major medical bills. This year’s outing proceeds went to Lilly Hill and her family to help with medical expenses. Lilly was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She will need a bone marrow transplant and her mother is a match for giving her the bone marrow she needs to get well.

This year’s proceeds were the largest the Lykins brothers have ever raised. In addition to our proceeds, a former resident of Rush County, Pam (Dennis) Graber and her husband, Randy, donated a generous amount to help. The Grabers own Open Range RV Company in Shipshewana. Presenting the donation was their employee and long-time Rush County resident David Holland and family.

The Lykins want to extend a thank you to all golf participants, Antler Point Golf Course, “Wally” McCane and staff, Lykins family members, all of the hole sponsors, many of our friends and the Grabers at Open Range RV Company for their generosity to help make our charity golf event a huge success.

All of these people make Rushville a truly remarkable, caring place to live and work.

Jon and Mark Lykins

  • Remembering an old friend

    Dear Editor:
The Mike Lacy I knew was a man who lived in the past. We only spent time with each other a few years, in high school and for a few years after. Mike and I shared a love of old movies, TV shows, music, and classic radio programs. Along with friends, we participated in parades in Rushville and other activities, dressing as the Marx Brothers with Mike portraying W.C. Fields (this was when Mike was heavier and before he became his svelte self).
