Geoffrey Weldon Wesling filed the necessary paperwork Friday with the Rush County Clerk formalizing his intent to be the next Rush County Prosecutor.
Wesling is a 2000 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and is the son of Rudy Wesling and Lisa Winship.
Following graduation from RCHS, Wesling attended and graduated from Purdue University followed by the University of Dayton, School of Law.
While a student in Dayton, Wesling was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient.
Upon graduation he relocated to Nashville, Tenn. and worked in private practice (criminal law). He was appointed public defendant cases by the Criminal Court judges in Nashville.
Wesling currently holds licenses to practice law in both Indiana and Tennessee.
In February 2009 he returned to Rush County and began working with the Public Defenders office while he prepared for the Indiana Bar. Once that was complete he entered private practice in October 2009.
“I realized that I was a small town guy and wanted to come back to my hometown,” Wesling said.
