RUSHVILLE —
A special event will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday on the front lawn of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 631 North Harrison Street, Rushville,
This will mark the second year the local church has hosted a “Blessing of the Pets” event.
According to organizer Pastor Mick Saunders, each year on or near the Feast Day of St. Francis, folks gather to have a blessing for animals.
“We gather together to give thanks for the pets who bring us joy. We pray that as our creator takes care of us, so we might take care of those animals who trust us to look after them” Saunders said.
The Feast of St. Francis is Oct. 4 each year, and on or near that day, a blessing is given for family pets and animals under the care of humans.
Saunders continued by saying that a number of area residents brought their family pet to last year’s event and that he is expecting Saturday’s event to be well received.
