RUSHVILLE —
Junior and Nancy Newton purchased their Arlington home in 1998 and since that time have made a number of improvements and undertaken renovation projects on the single-story residence.
It was originally a two-bedroom home; a year after purchasing the home the first major renovation took place when the attached garage was transformed into a bedroom. That was followed 13 years later when earlier this year two additional bedrooms and a master bath were added to the north side of the home. At the same time a remodel project was completed on the original portion of the home.
The Newton’s residence now consists of three bedrooms and two baths to accent the living room, dining room, office and laundry area.
The arrival of the 2012 holiday season finds the Newtons preparing for their first since the most recent remodel effort.
Christmas trees will adorn each room and a traditional Christmas theme will be carried throughout, with the exception of a fishing tree in the living room.
The Newton home is one of four on this year’s annual Xi Ea Xi Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Christmas Candlelight Home Tour. The event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday with $6 tickets still available from sorority members and at the doors of the featured residences.
All monies generated by the tour are put back into the community through charitable donations.
Directions to Newton’s home are west on U.S. 52 to CR 700W in Arlington. Following a right turn on Fairview Drive the home will be found at the top of a small hill where the street turns into Union Street.
