The Local Coordinating Council (LCC) financially supports a number of school clubs, community groups and organizations that promote safe and drug free school environments through monies collected from the state and drug and alcohol countermeasure fees levied by the county court system.
This year marks an increase in funding available to organizations that meet state mandated criteria related to prevention/education of alcohol and other drug use, intervention/treatment of the use of drugs and alcohol or justice/enforcement.
The state recently allocated $20,000 to the local LCC, an increase of $5,000 compared to recent years.
According to new LCC Coordinator Joe Jarman, new or existing funding requests must be submitted to him at the Rush County Probation office located on the third floor of the county courthouse on or before 4 p.m. Feb. 10. Any organization requesting funding support during the first of two annual funding periods must be in attendance at the Feb. 21 meeting. A second funding dissemination is held in September.
LCC meeting are open to the public and are held at 1 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at the Boys & Girls Club of Rush County, 1590 North Sexton Street.
