Rush County Community Foundation Thank-a-Teacher

RUSHVILLE — As we enter the holiday season The Rush County Community Foundation wants to remind parents and students in all schools in Rush County that the Rush County Education Fund’s Thank-a-Teacher is a great way to honor school system employees during the holiday with a gift that will give forever.

The “Rush County Education Fund” was established on June 1, 1994, by the schools in Rush County. The proceeds from this fund will provide financial support for education-related projects not provided for in the budget of all schools in Rush County.

A part of this fund is Thank-A-Teacher where contributions may be made to this Fund at the Foundation in honor of any Rush County school employee who will then receive a specially designed card telling them the name of the donor. These cards can be sent directly to the recipients or picked up at the Foundation office for the student to present in person.

“We have had several teachers tell us that they really appreciate the Thank-a-Teacher program.” stated Terry VanNatta, Foundation Assistant Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer. “Even though they appreciate all the gifts they receive each year from the students this program is a way to build the Education Fund Endowment which in turn awards grants to teachers and parent groups for special projects not covered in the school’s budget. Through our 2012 grant cycle we have awarded over $27,000 in grants to assist schools in Rush County from this fund.”

To make a donation to Thank-a-Teacher in honor of a teacher or school employee send your donation to the Foundation office at 117 N. Main St., Rushville, IN 46173 including the name of the person you are honoring and the student name. We will then send the card directly to the person being honored. Or, if you prefer you may stop by the Foundation office with your donation and we will prepare the card at that time so that the student may personally deliver the card to their teacher or school employee.

Meeting the philanthropic needs of Rush County since 1991, The Rush County Community Foundation, Inc., the Foundation of Rush County’s future, is a nonprofit public charity established to serve donors, award grants and scholarships, and provide leadership to enrich and enhance the quality of life in Rush County, not only today, but for our future generations. For more information please visit or contact Garry Cooley, executive director, or Terry VanNatta, assistant executive director and chief financial officer, at their office at 117 N. Main St., Rushville, IN 46173, or call them at (765) 938-1177.
