Enjoy the warm temperatures that are predicted for Monday, Dec. 3, by joining the F.I.T. Walkabout in Riverside Park. Meet at 4 p.m. by the Amphitheater. This walkabout is sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County.
On Wednesday, Dec. 5, enjoy Christmas lights with a view from the sidewalk on a F.I.T. Walkabout. Meet in the fairground’s parking lot at the corner of 11th & Sexton Streets at 5 p.m. The destination will be determined by the participants. Caroling will be optional.
On Thursday, Dec. 6, walk with the Indianapolis Hiking Club as they visit Rushville with “Get Fit on the Fitness Trail”. Meet at 3:45 p.m. in the parking lot east of Rushville Consolidated High School. This walkabout will be offered each Thursday through January.
Walkabouts are not always a walk. Anytime Fitness invites the participants of the FIT Walkabouts to visit them on Fridays at 4 p.m. (this is a new time). You can walk or try other exercise equipment. They do ask non-members to sign the guest register. FIT Walkabouts are sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. Their goal is to promote & encourage a fit and active lifestyle for residents of Rush County. For more information, call 932-5974.
The Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County would like to share the availability of indoor walking spaces: 1) Rush County Courthouse – Monday-Friday 7 – 8 a.m. and 4 – 5 p.m.; 2) Boys & Girls Club of Rush County – Monday-Friday 6:30 – 8 a.m. and Monday, Wednesday, Friday 1 – 2 p.m.; and 3) Memorial Gymnasium – Monday-Friday 6:30 – 8 a.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11:35 a.m. – 12:05 p.m. and Wednesdays 11:20 – 11:50 a.m.
Be alert for changes due to closings during the holidays. The Rush County Courthouse will be closed on Dec. 24, 25 & Jan. 1. The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will be closed on Dec. 24, 25, 26 & Jan. 1, with walking restricted to 6:30 – 8 a.m. on Dec. 27, 28, 31 and Jan. 2, 3 & 4. Memorial Gymnasium will be closed to walkers Dec. 24 – Jan. 4.
