RUSHVILLE —
Police are looking for a masked man with a handgun who robbed the Village Pantry at 1003 West Third Street in Rushville Thursday morning.
A report of a robbery was received at the Rushville Police Department shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The caller, the clerk at the Village Pantry, told the dispatcher that the store had just been robbed at gun point.
The caller further advised that the unknown assailant fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction after taking money and product from the convenience store.
The items taken by the suspect cannot be disclosed at this time due to their relevancy to the investigation. That investigation is led by officers from the RPD and the Rush County Sheriff’s Department, Rushville Chief of Police Craig Tucker said Thursday.
Multiple law enforcement personnel converged on the scene but a manhunt failed to locate the suspect.
Tucker said investigators are actively pursuing leads and although no arrest has been made the investigation is ongoing at this time.
The officer continued by saying that the clerk was unhurt during the altercation.
The suspect is described as wearing a blue-colored hooded sweatshirt over a gray hooded-sweatshirt. At the time of the robbery, he also had a black stocking cap on his head and a blue handkerchief around his mouth and nose. He was wearing tan pants that may have been tan and brown military BDU-style, black tennis shoes and dark gloves.
“During the robbery, the individual also displayed a black pistol,” Tucker said.
