RUSHVILLE —
Rushville Consolidated High School has much to be proud of and as a result, the following programs seek to recognize those who put forth their best effort.
Class Ring Program
Two sophomore students receive class rings donated from Jostens, Inc. These students are nominated by teachers for their improvement in their academic progress, leadership and citizenship from their freshman to sophomore year. Two names are then drawn to receive these free class rings.
Perfect Attendance Lunch
Attendance is a major component for academic success. In order to receive a perfect attendance award, a student may not miss any class time during the school year. For example, if a student is absent during one class block to go to the dentist or doctor, he/she will not qualify for perfect attendance. In accordance with state guidelines, school activities, field trips, serving as a page in the legislature, and working the election polls are not considered absences from school.
Honor Roll Ice-Cream Recognition
Good grades can be truly sweet! Each student included on the RCHS Honor Roll will be eligible to receive a complimentary ice-cream during a lunch. These ice-cream recognitions will occur after each nine-week honor roll.
Scholar Athlete of the Month
The RCHS Athletic Department presents a medal to a student each month to recognize excellence in both academics and athletics. (Corporate Sponsors are certainly welcome and encouraged to present the medal to the student at a football game, basketball game, etc)
VIP Breakfast
Students are nominated by staff to be recognized based on attendance, academics, and or attitude. These students and their parents are invited to the breakfast via a letter home (including RSVP). This breakfast occurs at the end of the school year.
Lion Pride Incentive Cards (“Caught you being good”)
Students will receive cards from any staff member for doing something good, displaying school pride, helping others, rewards, etc. Students then may drop cards in the “Lion Pride Box” in the office. Drawings will take place 2 times a grading period and names drawn will win prizes such as cafeteria desserts/specials, movie passes, restaurant discounts/freebies, t-shirts, free admissions/specials at athletic events or other school functions, and/or other special rewards. Staff members may pass these cards out at their discretion.

Handbag auction raises thousands
The Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation recently had their annual handbag auction. This overwhelmingly successful event raised several thousands of dollars for the new pediatric building. Pictured in the center is auctioneer Rusty Harmeyer and guests.

Wells Fargo makes lead gift to RMH Pediatrics
On behalf of Wells Fargo Bank, Bruce Everhart, Marissa Taylor, and Theresa Alexander recently presented $5,000.00 towards the Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation Kedo’s Kids Campaign to Rush Memorial Hospital President and CEO Brad Smith and RMH Foundation Executive Director Faith Mock.

A Muncie man was recently sentenced following a jury trial in the Rush Circuit Court.

City workers razed the former dental office and most recently the Rushville Library annex in the 300 block of North Morgan Street earlier this week.

The cost of a college education is one of many aspects of a young adults life that comes with a price.

RushShelby offices closed Friday
RushShelby Energy has announced that their offices will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 17 so the employees may attend the funeral of Dennis Rhoades, a 33 year employee of the cooperative. Emergency phones will be answered during the office closure.

Citizen Care Project underway
To better serve and respond to Rush County residents with special needs in the event of a life threatening emergency or disaster, the Rush County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Rush County Health Department are jointly conducting a “Citizen Care Project.”
