Wilson seeks Prosecutor’s office

For the Republican

Local lawyer Ron Wilson has announced that he is a Democrat candidate in the 2010 Primary Election for the office of Prosecuting Attorney of Rush County.

Wilson served as the local Prosecutor from 1987 through 1990, when he decided not to seek re-election.

He said that he now believes it is necessary to resume the duties as the Prosecutor and to provide the same level of service, as before, to all Rush County residents.

Wilson has been working and living in Rush County since 1979, having previously been a Deputy Prosecutor in Marion County the three previous years.

In Marion County he was one of the Deputy Prosecutors responsible for the Marion County Grand Jury and the section in the Prosecutor’s office investigating public official corruption.

He has been an attorney since July 1974, having graduated from the Indiana University at Indianapolis Law School in January 1974.

Wilson has served as a legal advisor to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department while a Deputy Prosecutor in Indianapolis. He also has served as a legal advisor to the Rushville Police Department for more than 14 years.

While serving as the Rush County Prosecutor Wilson was requested to serve as a Special Prosecutor involving cases in Henry and Fayette Counties.

Following his election he consolidated the local Prosecutor’s office in terms of the number of employees.

In addition, an outreach service was provided in that either an employee or Wilson would travel to Carthage, Milroy and Manilla once a month in order to meet with residents of those communities and provide assistance with issues they might be having regarding questions about law enforcement and child support.

Wilson said he is eagerly looking forward to again serving the residents of Rush County for the next four years.

Wilson and his wife, Donna have been married for 20 years and have six children: Jennifer Wilson, M.D., Dan Wilson, David Osborne, Mark Osborne, Jan (Osborne) Willhelm and Joni (Osborne) Hauk; and three grandchildren.

Wilson is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rushville Elks and Knights of Columbus, Rush County Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association.
