RUSHVILLE —
The Small Steps to Health & Wealth™ Winter Challenge has passed the half-way point of the six week program to encourage small behavior challenges leading to a healthier and wealthier future. Locally, Rush County residents are invited to a special session this Saturday, Feb. 9, at Rush County Schools Administration Building, 330 W. 8th Street.
Starting at 9:45 a.m., Rush Memorial Hospital Wellness Department will provide basic health assessments.
Starting at 10 a.m. representatives of the RMH Rehabilitation Services will be on hand to share tips for protecting our bodies as we strive to increase physical activity. Comfortable dress is encouraged so that those attending can participant with the therapists. Purdue Extension Educator Gracie Marlatt will have a brief education message. Those who have been participating should bring or send their up-to-date chart. A drawing for a gift certificate for a massage from RMH will be held among those who submit their charts. Those who are unable to attend on Saturday should bring their chart to the Rush County Extension Office, or send it to gnmarlat@purdue.edu.
Small Steps to Health & Wealth™ is a program of the Cooperative Extension Service through Rutgers Extension. Free, online challenges are held two times yearly or participants can use the non-competitive materials. More information can be found at http://njaes.rutgers.edu/sshw/. Locally, the challenge will wrap-up on Saturday, February 23, at 10:00 am at Rush Memorial Hospital. It is not too late to become involved in this program.
