Hill seeks office of Rush Superior Court Judge

Rush County native and current Rush Superior Court Judge Brian Hill has announced his intention to retain his seat and declare his candidacy for the 2008 election.

The first day for potential candidates to submit their declaration of candidacy to the Election Division of the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office is Jan. 23.

Judge Hill has held his current position since Jan. 1, 2007 when he was appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels to fulfill a two-year vacancy as a result of Judge David E. Northam’s election to the Rush Circuit Court in November 2006.

Hill was born and raised in northeastern Rush County, near the community of Falmouth. He is the son of Arnold and Mary Hill of Falmouth and continues to live and work on the family farm with his wife, Lori, son, Grant and daughter, Abigail.

Hill currently serves on the board of directors of the Rush County Historical Society and is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville.

He is a 1993 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and a 1997 graduate of Hanover College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in American History. Following graduation from college Hill worked two years and then enrolled in law school at Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis; he graduated from there in May 2002.

After graduation from law school and successfully passing the bar exam Hill was admitted to practice law and partnered with local attorney John O. Worth, where he enjoyed a successful private practice representing clients in various areas of law: civil litigation, criminal defense, bankruptcy, agricultural law, family law, probate and estate planning.

Hill also served as legal counsel for the Rush County Area Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and the Town of Glenwood.

“I have always been fortunate to have been able to continue to live and work in Rush County and to raise my family here. Now, after having held my current position, I feel especially honored for the opportunity to serve the community that has given so much to me. I also look forward to the opportunity to serve in this capacity for another term,” Hill said.
