At 9 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 call from a neighbor, Ray Hatfield, reported a house fire at 4646 E. US 52, New Salem in the home of Charles and Doris Lewis.
Doris was only one home at the time and initial report said she was still in the home. With the assistance of daughter Shirley and neighbor Hatfield, the two were able to get Doris out of the house prior to medical and fire responders arrival. Doris was treated by RMH medical personnel at scene and transported to RMH for unspecified non-life threatening injuries.
Responding units, including Laurel, Anderson Township, Glenwood, Rushville city, RMH ambulance, Rushville Township, Raleigh, arrived to a fully engulfed house fire.
A Rushville firefighter also sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
