Zoning ordinance gains approval

The Rush County Area Plan Commission recently continued a public hearing on their decision regarding a recommendation on rezoning a mobile home district to residential in the community of Milroy.

The commission passed along favorable recommendations to the county’s other governing bodies — the town of Carthage and the town of Glenwood and the Rush County Commissioners — on an amendment to the City Zoning Ordinance. However, they made no recommendation to the same governing bodies regarding allowing tattoo parlors in the City Business District with a special exception.

The APC approved four primary and eight secondary plat approvals for various locations in the county.

Primary plat approvals were granted to

n John W. Swain Estate, 4765 North CR 800W, Arlington with Pam Beckner agent for a single lot subdivision of 18 acres from a parent tract of 80 acres in Section 11 of Posey Township.

n Nancy A. Matlock, 2138 North Main Street, Rushville, with Jeff Powell agent for a single lot subdivision of 5 acres from a parent tract of 138.472 acres in Section 29 of Rushville Township.

n Robert C. and Jennifer J. Winters, 5619 west CR 850N in Carthage, for a two lot subdivision. Lot I consist of 4.39 acres and Lot II consist of 3.41 acres from a parent tract of 27.459 acres in Section 20 of Ripley Township.

Secondary plat approval was granted to

n Richard F. and Patricia Joyce Wilson, 322 East Franklin Street, Winchester, with Kenny Aulbach agent for a three lost subdivision from a parent tract of 20 acres. The single lot would be divided into 7.783 acres, 5.645 acres and 6.669 acre sections located in Section 36 of Noble Township.

n James L. Thackery, 6480 South CR 100E, Milroy, with Seig & Associates agent for a single lot subdivision of 6.5207 acres from a parent tract of 139.926 acres in Section 4 of Anderson Township.

n Christ fellowship Ministries, 935 East SR 44, Rushville, with Carl Harvey agent for a single lot subdivision of .42 acres from a parent tract of 2.78 acres in Section 5 of Rushville Township. A replat of .42 acres to existing 2.22 acres owned by Carl Harvey for a total of 2.64 acres.

n Sharon Cameron, Gary Davis, Bruce Davis and Terry Barnard, 633 West Seventh Street, Rushville, with John and Margaret Deutsch agents, for a single lot subdivision of .040 acres from 633 West Seventh Street property to be replated to Deutsch, 637 West Seventh Street. The property is zoned Residential 1.

n City of Rushville, 133 West First Street, Rushville, with Brad Buening agent for a four block subdivision within the City of Rushville, North Industrial Park - Phase 1 from a parent tract of 80 acres located in Section 19 of Jackson Township. The property is zoned Manufacturing 1.

n Paul Phillip Graber, 6951 Windsor Road, Hampton, N.C., with Dennis Clark agent for a single lot subdivision of 4.949 acres from a parent tract of 110 acres at 9484 South CR 500W, Milroy. The agriculture zoned property is located in Section 19 of Orange Township.

n James and Barbara Hodson, 10201 North CR 150E, Lewisville, with Paul D. Leisure agent for a two lot subdivision consisting of .403 acres from a parent tract of 39.967 acres and a replat to 1.013 acres for a total of 1.416 acres. The agriculture zoned property is located at 10155 North CR 150E Lewisville, in Section 9 of Center Township.

In a final matter, the commission appointed Neil Kuhn, Tim Yazel and Marvin Rees as the committee to nominate officers for 2009. Area Plan director Bill Todd was also selected to another term as director of the APC.

  • Waggener Pool opening Saturday and Sunday

    In an update to this story, the City announced plans today to open Waggener Community Pool earlier than originally planned due to expected high temperatures over Memorial Weekend. Mayor Mike Pavey has asked that the pool be open this coming Saturday and Sunday. Hours will be noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The pool will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day and Tuesday, and open again Wednesday, May 30, as was originally scheduled.
