A two-vehicle accident on a downtown Carthage street left both vehicles inoperable Saturday morning.
Rush County Deputy Dave Sliger said that shortly after 10 a.m. one motorist’s failure to see another vehicle led to the accident.
“As a Carthage resident began to pull out of a parking lot she did not see an eastbound driver and left the other driver few alternatives,” Sliger said.
Sandra K. Buchanan, 43, of Carthage, was behind the wheel of her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. As she began exiting the Pavey mini-mart parking lot she failed to see an eastbound 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Gary A. Driesbach, 40, also of Carthage.
The force of the impact left a trail of debris from both vehicles on North Main Street in the rural community.
At the time of the accident, both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and neither Carthage resident sustained any injuries.
