For the Republican
Fred Reece of Carthage works two different jobs and occasionally likes to try his luck on the Lottery. Over the weekend, the convenience store he usually frequents was out of the scratch-off game Reece wanted, so he tried a different one: Cold Hard Cash. It proved to be his lucky day since he wound up scratching off a $75,000 winner.
"I was eating breakfast when I scratched it off and about choked to death when I saw the ticket," Reece said. "I immediately called my father-in-law and then told my wife. She did not believe me at first!"
The Carthage resident's wife was in awe at first, then happy.
"It took her six hours to believe that I had a winning ticket," Reece said.
Reece's day job is at the Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home in Knightstown and in the evenings works for the Knightstown Police Department.
"We're going to put a down payment on a house and I'll also buy my wife a new vehicle," Reece said.
He purchased his winning ticket from Speedway #7153 at 213 W. Main Street, Knightstown.
