Rush County seeks funds for Carthage Pike Project
Rush County is one of seven government entities making presentations to the Indiana Department of Transportation Wednesday at the Greenfield District’s main conference room in hopes of receiving federal funding for Local Public Agency (LPA) projects.
The county is seeking $886,000 for Phase III of the Carthage Pike project that extends from the Town of Carthage to State Road 140. Phase III deals with resurfacing and scope changes along a 1.2 mile section of roadway near the Carthage Pike Cemetery.
The INDOT Greenfield District has been allocated $3.6 million for distribution to Group IV LPA applicants within its boundaries at next week’s Official Call for Projects.
Group IV is defined by counties and towns with populations less than 5,000 that are outside a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) area.
Selected applicants will be eligible to receive matching funds from the Federal Highway Administration. The 80/20 match would require Rush County to provide $221,500 toward Phase III’s $1,107,500 total cost.
Wednesday’s half-hour presentation to the Project Evaluation Committee, scheduled for 9 a.m., is open to the public.
District offices are located at 32 S. Broadway, Greenfield.
The maximum any one applicant for Group IV LPA funding can receive is $3 million.
Funding requests for eight projects submitted total $11,508,344.
