RUSHVILLE —
The Harvest Land Co-op gas station and convenience store, 627 West Third Street, Rushville was robbed of an unspecified amount of money shortly after closing Saturday night by a suspect brandishing a knife. Manager Mike Tillison said the attendant was alone and was in the process of closing up when the robber burst in shortly after 9:15 p.m. According to the manager, the robber was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, gloves and had something covering his face when he forced the employee to the ground behind the counter. “A masked male came in and physically got the employee down on the floor and robbed us. The entire thing took less than a minute,” Tillison said. Rushville Police Detective Todd Click said the suspect was last seen on foot running southwest from the crime scene. The unidentified male employee was slightly injured when the robber struck him in the head before leaving the store. “The attendant was struck by the robber and briefly lost consciousness. When he came to he called 911,” Click said. Tillison said all of the company’s policies were followed and it was unknown why the robber struck the unarmed employee. “The employee was struck. He’s okay, but he did take a hit to the head,” Tillison said. Following treatment by medical personnel from RHM Ambulance, the employee was released after talking to investigators. When asked how much money the robber got away with Tillison said he was unable to say. The investigation is ongoing at this time; officers are reviewing film from in-store security cameras that caught the robbery on tape.
