Leslie Wagner, Director of Project Management and Development, and Chad Sweeney, Director of Corporate Development from Ginovus, recently met with various Rush County and Rushville leaders and business people. Ginovus is a company that assists in gaining a competitive advantage by providing site selection, comparative analysis, and incentive procurement services.
Over the past several years there has been a lot of discussion about economic development opportunities in the county and East Central Indiana and what can be done to enhance and further promote the county and region. Should leaders concentrate on existing employers and help them to expand, seek to attract new employers, a combination of both, and what types of companies should be specifically targeted? Key stakeholders in the economic development community and ones that have a strong understanding of our local assets were invited to attend.
Energize-ECI contracted with the Indiana firm, Ginovus that specializes in business site selection and economic development consulting to help us identify and map our collective assets and outline potential marketing strategies.
This is a very important project that will give an objective and reasonable roadmap for development in Rush County. An overall analysis of the meeting and the comments made will be performed. Towards the end of May or beginning of June, Rush County will be presented with a document that captures the input, shows the analysis and produces the target industries that we should focus on.
This was a good exercise to go through to remind each of us at the meeting of the core values and assets of our community that we sometimes take for granted or don’t realize how important they really are.
