RUSHVILLE — Phyllis M. Hubbell, 90, of Connersville, passed away at Lincoln Center East on Tuesday November 6, 2012. Born in Rush County, Indiana on October 3, 1922, she is the daughter of the late Paul and Arrene Hiner McDaniel. She grew up in the Mays, Indiana area and graduated from Mays High School in 1940. She then went on to graduate from Indiana Business College. After graduation she worked for 10 years in Indianapolis, then on May 6, 1951 she became the bride of Everett C. Hubbell. They were married at the Little Blue River Church in Rush County. Once married she became a homemaker and farmers wife and helped with the operation of the family farm. In her early years she was a ten year member of the 4-H and later became a 4-H Leader, helping many kids with their sewing projects. She also was active in the Indiana Rural Youth and enjoyed singing and being involved with The Extension Homemakers Choir. She served on the Fayette County Extension Board and the 4-H Council. She won numerous awards with her baking and sewing entries at the fair over the years. For over 50 years she had been a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau and a 50 plus year member of the Connersville Chapter #346 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Fayette County Extension Homemakers Club for 60 years, where she held several offices. She was also a member of the Indiana Jersey Cattle Association. Phyllis was a long time member of the Springersville Christian Church where she served for many years as treasurer and song leader. For many years she worked on the Election Board in Waterloo Township. She is survived by her children, Keith & Lois Hubbell of Connersville and Karen Greenwalt and her companion, Bill Snape of Connersville; a sister, Joan Addison of New Castle; two sisters in law, Marcelle McDaniel of Greenfield and Kathleen McDaniel of Knightstown; four grandchildren, Andrea Shaffer of Toledo, OH, Chad Greenwalt of Indianapolis, Kurt Hubbell of Evansville and his fiancé Dana Sutphin of West Lafayette and Lisa Hubbell of Connersville; three great grandchildren, Alexandria, Cole and Priya all of Toledo, OH, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 2002; two brothers, Dwight McDaniel and Carl McDaniel; and a brother in law, Howard Addison. Funeral services will be conducted at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Saturday November 10, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Eric Hopkins and Rev. Rodney Barbee officiating. Burial will follow at Springersville Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4-8 pm.
