Gerald R. Collins Jr., 64

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Gerald R. Collins Jr., 64, of Manilla, passed away Dec. 6, 2012.

Born Nov. 12, 1948 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Gerald R. Collins Sr. and Naomi J. (Ross) Collins; his mother, a Shelbyville resident, survives. He married Sharon A. Catt Aug. 20, 1966; she survives.

Survivors in addition to his mother and wife include a daughter, Diane Kuhn of Boggstown; a sister, Nancy (Dannie) Gable of Nashville; grandchildren, Danielle, Ashley, Christine and Richard Kuhn; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Isabel Gundrum-Tucker.

Besides his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Kay Collins.

Mr. Collins spent his lifetime in the Shelby County area. He worked as an inspector for GE/Wellman’s for 43 years, retiring in 2010. He was a 1967 graduate of Manilla High School.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with Pastor B.J. Justice officiating. Burial in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gerald loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping and playing the organ. He enjoyed working in his lawn and tinkering in the garage.

Memorials are requested to Heartland Hospice or the Shelby County Cancer Association c/o the funeral home.
