Rosemary R. Compton, 83


Rosemary R. Compton, 83, of Arlington, died March 6, 2010.

Born Jan. 1, 1927 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Raymond and Nellie (Pittman) Gallagher, both deceased. She married Marvin “Gene” Compton Jan. 6, 1944; he preceded her in death in 1992.

Mrs. Compton was a homemaker and lived most of her life in the Waldron area. She attended Boggstown High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville.

Survivors include daughters, Diana “Cookie” (Richard) Daugherty of Waldron, Robin (Jim) McIntire of Morristown and Stacey (Jim) Cowan of Arlington; son, Daniel (Beverly) Compton of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Balting; three sisters; and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul with the Rev. Peter Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
