Charles Edward Amick, 77

RUSHVILLE — Charles Edward Amick, 77, of Carmel, died Jan. 26, 2012. He was born March 6, 1934 in St. Paul to Charles and Dorothy Amick and grew up in Rushville.

Charlie graduated from Rushville High School where he met Janet, his sweetheart, best friend and beloved wife of 53 years.

He earned a Master of Arts degree from Ball State University. He was a teacher and coach at Rushville High School, and guidance counselor at North Central High School. Charlie was guidance director, assistant principal and principal for 13 years at Pike High School spending over 28 years as an educator at Pike Township. He was a past president of Rushville Kiwanis Club, Indiana Personnel and Guidance Association, and was a member of Pike Township Educational Foundation, Indiana Schoolmens, Masons and a proud US Army veteran.

Charlie, Dad and Grandpa will be remembered by his family as a great husband, father and grandfather who took care of all of us and cherished special family times together. Most of all, he will be remembered for his warm ways, sense of humor and dedication to family, friends and students.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Jeff (Jennifer) Amick; daughter, Laura (Dale) Naylor; son, Tim (Dawn) Amick; brother, David L. Amick; sister-in-law, Judy Ellis; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 29 at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. Funeral service were Monday, Jan. 30 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
