Marjorie L. Gahimer, 87

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Marjorie L. Gahimer, 87, a longtime Rushville resident, passed away Saturday evening in Rushville.

She was born June 19, 1925 in Wayne County, Ky. to Dexter and Celia Elizabeth (Slagle) Parmley. Marjorie spent her early life in Monticello, Ky. and had lived in Rushville since 1947. She married Bobby Dill Feb. 10, 1958; he preceded her in death March 20, 1963. She later married Varl L. Gahimer Feb. 14, 1970; he preceded her in death May 29, 2008.  

Marjorie worked many years at Rush Memorial Hospital where she worked switchboard and did payroll. She also worked for Drs. Frank Green and Marvin Norris as office administrator. Marjorie was a member of First Baptist Church in Rushville.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna and husband Don Wilson of Rushville, Libby and husband Ray O’Connor of Greenwood and Debbie Dill of Rushville; brothers, Herschel Parmley of Canada and Charles and wife Patricia Parmley of Somerset, Ky.; sisters, Stella Parmley of Rushville, Ella Risner of Indianapolis and Maysie Weaver of Somerset, Ky.; step daughters, Norene and husband Phil Wright of Manilla and Earlene and husband John Wheeler of Waldron; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husbands, Marjorie was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Jean Parmley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Jay Noll will preside and burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Rushville.
